In March, a good friend of On the Town swung by to talk about the state of historic preservation of Modernism in Southern California. Michael Palumbo was currently serving as the chair of the Los Angeles Conservancy Modern Committee.

Qualified by more than fifteen years of international design experience, Michael Palumbo’s scope of professional project experience includes: World Expositions, Visitor Centers, Interpretive Exhibits, Educational Exhibits, Custom Showrooms, and Science Centers. As a visual designer and communicator, Michael’s strength lies in translating educational and marketing concepts and goals into an aesthetic and sensory visitor experience. He has a strong aptitude for three dimensional visualization and color theory. He is noted for enthusiastically embracing the challenges and results of creating design solutions.
About the Los Angeles Conservancy Modern Committee
The Los Angeles Conservancy Modern Committee is a volunteer group that was formed in 1984 in response to the rapid destruction of a generation of Postwar buildings. The Modern Committee’s focus is 20th century architecture and related fields which reflect the heritage of Modernism and popular culture.’ModCom’ holds regular monthly meetings to plan educational events such as tours, exhibitions and lectures; research and nominate landmarks; organize field trips; and serve as advocates for Modern design.
