Matt Roth, AAA Archivist came to the show to talk about the New Auto Club of Southern California Car Culture Landmarks Map!
About Matt Roth
Matthew Roth holds master’s degrees in the history of technology and museum studies and is a Ph.D. candidate in history at the University of Southern California. He has written five books on urban, industrial and transportation history and produced dozens of exhibitions on those themes. He came to Los Angeles in 1992 to serve as founding curator of the Petersen Automotive Museum. After completing that, he became manager of archives and historical programs for the Automobile Club of Southern California. Recent work includes the article “Mulholland Highway and the Engineering Culture of Los Angeles in the 1920’s, in the journal Technology and Culture (July 1999) and the exhibition “Rear View Mirror: Automobile Images and American Identities” at the University of California Riverside/California Museum of Photography. Forthcoming work includes his dissertation on road and freeway development in Los Angeles.
