In April, On The Town welcomed Filamena D’Amore to regale us with stories of growing up around a Hollywood restaurant that catered to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Joe Dimaggio, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Dean Martin. Filamena’s Father, Pasquale (Patsy) D’Amore, ran the famed Villa Capri in Hollywood in the Golden Age of Cinema. Movies stars were all regular guests. It was such an integral part of Hollywood history that there is even a display about the restaurant at the new Disney’s California Adventure park in Anaheim. Listeners can still eat the same pizza that Sinatra ate by going to the Farmer’s Market at Fairfax and Third and getting a slice of Patsy’s Pizza!
